The field of medicine is one of the most educative and advanced field filled with numerous careers and professions for scholars and technicians out there. The reason for is due to the fact the medical field is vast and wide, offering various regions of study from human body anatomy, neuron studies, human metabolism, dentistry, cardiology and optic logy. The study and knowledge in the field of medicine is very important to humans as it ensures their survival in a healthy and comfortable manner free from ailments, discomforts and diseases. Furthermore, in case of any diseases, the study of medicine helps humans know the root cause of the disease, ways in which to treat and deal with the disease and any future plans designed to ensure that the occurrence of that disease does not happen again; incase it happens, humans also need to know how to control and handle the disease. The purpose of this report is to investigate two career choices that one may benefit from by venturing into the medical field. Such careers are meant to be life saving and helpful to any other human being out there.
Perhaps one of the most important medical study and career fields for humans is cardiology. Cardiology is the study of the heart, its functioning and also various ways the heart is affected by these disorders. Individuals and physicians who specialize in dealing with treatment, surgery and various activities of the heart are referred to as cardiologists. Cardiologists play a very vital role in ensuring that the world remains a very healthy place by taking care of one of the most vital organs of the human body (Julian, Cowan & McLenachan, 2005). Indeed, without a heart one would not survive, and also having a faulty heart that is not functioning to its full capacity reduces ones survival chances. Cardiologists are therefore very important in helping make crucial medical diagnosis and other treatments of congenital heart defects (Heger, Niemann & Criley, 2004).
Furthermore, cardiologists are useful for making diagnosis of coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure and electrophysiology. An individual affected by any of these diseases and is in critical condition would therefore need a heart surgery or a heart transplant. Heart surgeries and heart transplants are done by cardiac surgeons who are part of the cardiologists' team (Betts, Dwight, & Bull, 2010).
Another medical career filed that would perhaps interest scholars is the field of dentistry. For one to choose a career in dentistry, one either has to be a dentist or be part of the dentist's supportive team which comprises of dental therapist, dental technicians, dental hygienist and dental assistant (Thoma, 1941). Dentistry as a career opportunity is a medical field that involves the vast study, diagnosis, various preventive measures and available treatments of conditions, diseases and disorders of oral cavity, also the maxillofacial area and its associated adjacent structures and heir various known impact on the human body. Dentistry is important as it helps remove tooth, mouth and other disorders that may be associated or caused by unhealthy cavity and teeth (Holmstrom, 2005).
Furthermore, the study of dentistry is important to crime investigators who use cavity and teeth structures for identifying bodies and also tracking down individuals. The reason for this is because the structure of one's teeth is unique to another, just like fingerprints, and thus crime investigators may use this information to identify bodies of missing persons and also in tracking down criminals in case a bite mark is left on a victim. Furthermore, dentists offer advice on ways in which individuals should treat their teeth in order for them to remain health, free from diseases, plaque, and bad odor or even tooth loss. It is very necessary or individuals to have healthy mouths and teeth that are free from disease or foul smell (Hillson, 1986).
